Focus groups in Jordan

07/11/2024 & 24/11/2024

In November 2024, two national focus groups were conducted in Jordan under the FLAVEAT project. Hosted by Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) and Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), the events gathered academics, government authorities, and representatives from the private food sector to assess current challenges and training needs in food law and safety.

Participants emphasized the need for professionals with competencies in AI-driven food processing, sustainable production, and food waste reduction. The discussions also underlined the importance of practical exposure—such as factory visits and hands-on training—as well as the growing demand for short-term certification courses to enhance regulatory compliance.

These insights will directly inform the structure and content of the MOOCs being developed, ensuring they are tailored to industry expectations and contribute to bridging the gap between academic training and real-world food safety challenges in Jordan.
